Third round of Iran-Croatia religious dialogue to take place in Zagreb

The third round of religious dialogue between Iran and Croatia is set to take place in Zagreb, with representatives from different faiths in attendance.

The meetings will be held in the Croatian capital, on November 4-5, 2024.

The event will be attended by Hojat-ol-Islam Mohammad Mehdi Imanipour, Chairman of the Policy Council and Coordination of Interfaith Dialogue in Iran and President of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization.

The main theme of this round of discussions, hosted by the Croatian Council of Religions and the Islamic Community of Croatia, is “Experiences in Interfaith Dialogue.”

Imanipour, along with a delegation of religious leaders and scholars from Iran, will participate in the dialogue at the invitation of Aziz Hasanović, the Grand Mufti of Croatia.

The Iranian delegation includes Mamosta Abdul Salam Karimi, Advisor to the President on Ethnic and Religious Minorities Affairs; Rabbi Younes Hamami Lalehzar, Religious Leader of Iranian Jews; Mar Narsai Benjamin, Archbishop of the East Assyrian Church; Vania Lahham Sargaz, bishop of the Chaldean Catholic Church; Ara Shahverdian, Representative of the Armenians in Iranian Parliament; Behshid Borkhordar, Representative of Zoroastrians in the Iranian Parliament; and Ali Asghar Ameri, Deputy Director of the Center for Interfaith Dialogue and Cultures.

On the second day of their visit, the Iranian delegation will participate in a specialized session titled “Social Responsibility of Religious Leaders,” organized in collaboration with the Croatian Conference of Catholic Bishops at the Catholic University of Croatia.

In addition to the formal discussions, the Iranian scholars will engage in meetings and visits with Croatian religious and cultural figures.
