With a combined value of EU200 million, the renewed contracts aim to ensure continued satellite service provision in eight countries across the continent
SES has announced multi-year contract extensions with three European broadcasters.
Building on a collaboration that started in 2011, SES’s Astra 3C satellite at 23.5 degrees East will continue to provide multi-transponder capacity for Telekom Srbija, enabling its SD and HD pay-TV throughout Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and North Macedonia as part of its M:Sat TV platform. Uplink and backup services are provided under the contract, as well as redundant fibre connectivity for the entire platform.
Commenting on the extension, Katarina Subotić, chief sales officer at Telekom Srbija, said, “The extension of our relationship with SES ensures we can continue delivering high-quality entertainment to our subscribers across the region. Their proven track record of reliable service delivery, combined with their dedicated sales and marketing support, makes them an ideal partner as we continue to grow our DTH platform.”
In another multi-year deal, SES will continue to enable Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) to deliver SD and HD channels across Germany and Austria. The company will provide playout services and satellite capacity from its prime video neighbourhood of 19.2 degrees East. WBD has secured capacity for broadcasting DMAX, TLC, Tele 5, Eurosport 1 and HGTV in unencrypted SD.. Additionally, DMAX HD, TLC HD, Tele 5 HD, and Eurosport 1 HD will remain accessible through SES’s HD+ platform, said the company. The contracts for DMAX and TLC in Austria have also been extended.

Austrian public broadcaster and its content distribution subsidiary ORS Group will also continue to distribute their channels via SES satellites at its prime TV neighbourhood, 19.2 degrees East.More than half of Austrian households rely on satellite TV. The contract includes transmission of channels including ORF 1 HD, ORF 2 HD, ORF III HD, ORF Sport plus HD, as well as regional programmes and ORF’s portfolio of radio channels.
