The 28-year-old theme park will be opening the “world’s first multi-launch water coaster” – according to its website.

Slated to open in 2026, the new water coaster will have a launched start (replacing the traditional lift hill), allegedly making it a world-first.

A statement on the theme park website reads: “From 2026, the world’s first water coaster with Multi LIM Launch awaits you at Plohn Theme Park – a combination of high-tech, water fun and roller coaster that has never been seen before.

“From a standing start, you will be catapulted into the water and experience exciting curves, lively descents, fast turns and even a second launch with the whole family before you plunge into the water one last time with a powerful ‘splash’.”

An artist’s impression shows what the new ride could look like when it opens, with its twisting track set over a lake.

The news was also shared on a post on Facebook, with one theme park fan writing: “This is a great park! Even though this park doesn’t have the biggest coaster lineup, it’s a much better guest experience than larger parks like Energylandia or Alton Towers”.

Until the new water coaster opens in 2026, there is still plenty to keep park-goers entertained when Freizeitpark Plohn reopens for the summer season next March.

Freizeitpark Plohn is home to more than 80 attractions, which are spread across eight different zones.

The eight themed worlds at the theme park include the Fairytale Forest, Dinoland, Classic Car Park, Action Attractions, Western Town, Plohnidorf, Village of the Gauls and Nature Park.

For adrenaline junkies, there are six rollercoasters at the theme park, including El Toro.

Scenic Railway at Dreamland in Margate is the UK’s Oldest Rollercoaster

Standing at 28m, El Toro is thought to be the highest wooden rollercoaster in East Germany and can reach speeds of up to 46mph.

There’s also Dynamite, which claims to be Germany’s first big dipper coaster.

Park-goers are sped along the 500m track on a series of loops, helixes, twists and turns.

There’s also a children’s rollercoaster called the Caterpillar, which takes park-goers along a winding track of ups and downs.

Other attractions include several carousel rides, a vintage car ride, a children’s railway and a tree house, which claims to be the largest one in Germany.

The little-known German theme park has a 4/5 star rating on TripAdvisor from hundreds of reviews.

One person wrote: “This theme park is absolutely fantastic, with a couple of attractions for adults and children. In seven hours, you can try all the attractions.”

Another said: “A very clean and well-maintained theme park with attractions for all ages, and even small kids can find rides.”.

A third person added: “A great experience for the whole family. We have been here twice and find it always great”.

Tickets cost €39 (£32) for adults and €32 (£27) for kids, with children under four going free.

Located in Lengenfeld, Leipzig Airport is the closest airport to the German theme park.

Ryanair operates a direct service from London Stansted Airport to Leipzig Airport, with one-way fares starting from £17 per person.

Flights between London and Leipzig take one hour and 40 minutes.

From Leipzig, it is an 80-minute drive to Freizeitpark Plohn.

The German theme park is closed for the winter season and will reopen in March.
