On 11 November, the Department for the Execution of Judgments accompanied the Director of Human Rights to Belfast to discuss the status of implementation of the McKerrgroup of cases, concerning investigations into deaths that took place during the Troubles in Northern Ireland.
Discussions with the Independent Commission for Reconciliation and Information Recovery, the Northern Ireland Human Rights Commission and a number of NGOs focussed on developments since the Committee of Ministers’ last examination of the group in June 2024.
The Committee of Ministers will resume examination of the group at one of its meetings in 2025.
