Craig Bellamy has a simple approach to tonight’s game – just
go out to win.
He says he will ignore what is going on elsewhere and the various qualification permutations, and instead concentrate on getting the job done against
Iceland.
Bellamy knows what to expect from an Iceland side who have
scored two goals in four of their five Nations League games so far.
Their boss, the experienced Age Hareide, has described this
game as a “final” but says his side are underdogs.
It’s a shame Iceland’s former Cardiff player Aron Gunnarsson
will be missing from the visitors’ line-up because of a thigh injury, which he
sustained early in his team’s 2-0 win in Montenegro last Saturday.
He is in the Welsh capital with the squad, but will miss the
chance of playing at the stadium where he scored Cardiff’s first Premier League
goal, in a win over Manchester City in August 2013.
Iceland will be dangerous, especially with the presence of
Real Sociedad striker Orri Oskarsson in hot form with three goals in his last
four starts.
And they proved durable against Wales in Reykjavik last month, as their
comeback in the second half secured a 2-2 draw.
But providing they can find their goal touch, Wales should
have enough to complete an unbeaten first campaign for Bellamy.
