The Western Development Commission (WDC) is leading a high-level delegation to Leuven and Brussels, driving collaboration with EU bodies to unlock opportunities for the West and North West of Ireland.

Delegates include representatives from the Department of Rural and Community Development, Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment, ERNACT, AIM Centre Sligo, Northern and Western Regional Assembly, Galway Culture Company, Mayo County Council, Sligo County Council, and Enterprise Ireland.

The programme features expert sessions at the Irish College Leuven and key discussions on the European Green Deal, regional development, and EU programme management with the European Commission, Committee of the Regions, and European Parliament.

“This collaboration is essential for fostering innovation, improving regional accessibility, and strengthening rural economies in the West of Ireland,” said Allan Mulrooney, CEO of the WDC.

By engaging directly with EU leaders and institutions, the WDC is ensuring the region takes full advantage of European opportunities to drive progress and sustainability.
