In Expedia’s recent Unpack ‘25: The Trends in Travel Report, detour destinations are on the rise as more travelers are seeking unique destinations to tack on to their trip itineraries. Travelers are still visiting popular cities, but are also eager to add on additional local spots as a day trip detour from their main destination. In fact, 63% of consumers were reported to visit a detour destination on their next vacation.
