Marriott International is expanding its luxury footprint in Europe with the introduction of The Ritz-Carlton brand to Serbia after signing an agreement with Danube Riverside d.o.o. Beograd.
Slated to open in 2027, The Ritz-Carlton, Belgrade aims to set a new standard for luxury in the city with its service and design. It is poised to offer 193 guest rooms and suites.
Guests will be able to avail The Ritz-Carlton Club experience and the choice of two dining venues.
The hotel plans to feature an array of amenities including an indoor swimming pool, a fitness centre and spa, and more than 1,700m² of space dedicated to meetings and events.
Marriott International Middle East chief operating officer Sandeep Walia said: “Serbia continues to grow as an important business and leisure destination, and the signing of The Ritz-Carlton, Belgrade reflects our commitment to expand our portfolio of brands and experiences in its progressive capital and the broader region.
“We look forward to working with Danube Riverside d.o.o. Beograd to provide travellers to the country and local guests alike with Ritz-Carlton’s legendary service, thoughtful innovation and distinctive luxury experiences.”
Located on Nikola Tesla Boulevard, the hotel will boast a riverside setting along the Danube.
It is close to key government buildings, the business district, Stark Arena, and the historic old town.
The development is part of a broader initiative to rejuvenate the site of the former Hotel Jugoslavija.
Danube Riverside d.o.o. Beograd representative Ivan Bošnjak said: “We are honoured to collaborate with Marriott International to bring The Ritz-Carlton brand to Serbia, a global symbol of luxury and quality.
“On the site of the former Hotel Jugoslavija, a modern complex will rise becoming a prestigious new destination in Belgrade designed for both our fellow citizens and tourists from around the world.
“The Ritz-Carlton, Belgrade will be the centrepiece of a project that also includes residential and office towers, a conference centre, a marina, and a promenade. We believe this project will bring new energy to Belgrade and strengthen its position on the global map of luxury destinations.”
Serbia’s position at the heart of Central and Southeast Europe presents a business landscape with competitive costs and a thriving startup culture.
Belgrade merges its historical allure with cultural attractions and contemporary infrastructure, making it an attractive location for both business executives and holidaymakers.
