Jayson Shaw’s continental stars are hoping to clinch a fifth straight title after winning last year’s battle at Alexandra Palace.
And they are currently leading 8-5 in the race to 11 for the coveted Mosconi trophy – as well as a bumper cash prize.
But earlier in the day, Team USA gave their European counterparts a major fright.
A fine display from Billy Thorpe saw the Americans peg their opponents back to 4-4.
And teammate Tyler Styer got slightly carried away as he urged the home crowd to show more support.
However, his sweary outburst did not go down well on Sky Sports, who were forced to issue an apology for Styer’s bad language.
Taking the mic, he said to the crowd: “I’ll tell you what, you guys have been at about 60 per cent this week, OK?
“Every time they break dry, every time they miss a break, every time they miss a ball, every time they hook themselves, I want you to blow the f*****g roof off this place. Let’s go!”

The Sky Sports host took it all in her stride though.
Reclaiming the mic, she turned to the camera before apologising.
Freak incident at Mosconi Cup leaves pool fans scratching their heads as they ask ‘how has that not gone in?’
She said: “Apologies for the language there. We are live on Sky Sports Tyler, remember that!”
Tyer’s teammate Thorpe then added: “Everybody always thinks we’re getting robbed, good luck.
“We have the potential to win the rest of the matches, I think we’re going to do really well.
“We’re all having fun and if it wasn’t for all the fans we wouldn’t be here, so thank you guys.”
