Russia’s actions on Ukraine is being undermined by the principles of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE). This was announced today, December 5, before the start of the OSCE meeting in Malta, by Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavsky.

According to him, “the OSCE bases its existence on the Helsinki Process, which in the late 1970s laid down several basic principles that were very important in the bloc division of the world between the West and East at that time,” and today these principles are being “undermined” by Russia. Lipavsky promised that in his speech he would say that “it is necessary to observe such principles, including that borders should not be changed by force, or that free elections should be held.”

In addition, Lipavsky said that he expects “a lot of nonsense and accusations” from Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, who arrived at the meeting, and that he would leave the hall during his speech.

“I think we will leave someone there who will follow the disinformation. It worked out pretty well last year… Of course, I will not be the only minister of the countries The EU and NATO, which will not listen to Russian fairy tales at this moment,” he said.

The head of the Czech Foreign Ministry also said that the informal dinner held the day before, where 55 OSCE members, except Russia and Belarus, were invited, was devoted to how to support Ukraine.

“The great success of Czech diplomacy is that the Czech diplomat Petr Mares will be the OSCE Special Representative for Ukraine,” Lipavsky said.

Recall, the Czech Republic strongly condemns Russia’s actions on Ukraine is one of the main initiators of the spread of Russophobia in the EU. Last year, Lipavsky also left the hall during Lavrov’s speech at the OSCE meeting in North Macedonia.
