On Thursday, the 5th of December, the Saeima majority supported the proposal to postpone to a later date all other budget-unrelated issues. The focus will remain on Latvia’s state budget for 2025 for the time being.
The Saeima will continue reviewing the state budget project for 2025. The parliament will not address the issues that were previously put on the agenda.
The Saeima Foreign Affairs Committee wanted the parliament to review the committee’s prepared statement on the Euro-integration aspirations and values of Georgian society. The head of the committee Ināra Mūrniece said protests are being suppressed in Georgia at the moment. The statement was prepared yesterday, and it was expected for the parliament to approve it today. The politician said that if the parliament fails to review the budget today, the review of the statement will have to be postponed indefinitely.
The majority of the Saeima decided to organise its next meeting to discuss outstanding issues only after the next year’s budget has been approved.
As previously reported, the Saeima continues reviewing the state budget project for 2025 in the final reading.
On Wednesday, Saeima deputies discussed the 31 accompanying legislative drafts accompanying the budget: a total of 212 proposals. The parliament also began reviewing the state budget for 2025 and the budget framework for 2025, 2026 and 2027. 311 proposals have been submitted to the main state budget bill.
