Austria, Slovenia and Croatia have joined forces to market immersive and slow travel experiences to U.S. luxury travelers.

The tourist boards of all three destinations introduced the Alps-Adriatic region to travel industry representatives at the Signature Travel Network Conference in Las Vegas in November.

The event was attended by 2,700 travel professionals, including more than 1,700 travel advisors, members of the high-end travel consortia Signature Travel Network.

Representatives from the three countries met with about 300 U.S.-based advisors, and the Alps-Adriatic region was showcased in a special session attended by more than 160 advisors.

“We do not only share common history and culture, but we perfectly complement traditional culinary delicacies and local wine varieties across all three countries,” said Leila Kresic-Juric, director North America, Croatian National Tourist Board, adding: “It was a particular pleasure announcing the region of Kvarner as the next 2026 European Region of Gastronomy.”

Michael Gigl, head of market USA, Austria Tourism, highlighted Carinthia, Austria’s southernmost province, which, while a favorite for Austrian travelers, is new to most American travelers.

“Pairing this region with an exploration of Slovenia and Croatia is a perfect combination for travelers who prefer a road less traveled.”

This three-country collaboration is part of a broader European effort by the European Travel Commission to attract the curious traveler and is co-funded by the European Union.
