President Aleksandar Vučić stated, following the plenary meeting of EU and Western Balkans leaders, that Serbia expects to become part of the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA) as early as January or February, as well as to open Cluster 3 at the end of January or, at the latest, the beginning of February.

“We expect to receive financial support from the growth agenda in the next three or four days. The remainder of this first segment will come during the month of January,” Vučić told reporters in Brussels.

He emphasised the importance of continuing work on green corridors and noted that significant progress has already been made with Hungary.

“We hope to achieve the same with Croatia in the future. Today was particularly interesting because we all had numerous bilateral meetings, including with Luxembourg’s Prime Minister Xavier Bettel, Spain’s Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, and Croatia’s Prime Minister Andrej Plenković,” Vučić said.

Vučić mentioned that he was the last speaker at the Brussels summit among the Western Balkan representatives and that Serbia faced various accusations during the discussions.

“The greatest hypocrisy is when someone accuses us of not respecting territorial integrity, while those same parties executed secession on part of our territory. You pause and wonder who is in the wrong here, but in the end, I believe everyone understood everything clearly,” he stated.

He added that there were several significant developments at the summit and expressed gratitude to Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni for her excellent contributions.

“Of course, Viktor Orbán, Robert Fico, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, and many other friends of ours had very fair attitudes, and I am extremely grateful for what they did for our country this evening,” Vučić concluded.
