Until 29 of December: A high pressure system is dominating across much of western and central Europe bringing stable weather with sunny and clear spells mostly until the 29th of December. Exceptions are the northern parts of the British Isles, the western Scandinavia and Greece where we are expecting outbreaks of rain or showers, locally heavy in Scotland and Greece with snow over medium-high ground. Maximum temperatures near to 3-7°C in central Europe and 10-14°C in Spain, Portugal and Italy.
30-31 of December: Arctic air masses above Scandinavia along with an Atlantic low pressure system towards the British Isles and Scandinavia will bring severe weather with rain, wintry showers and snow. Snow is expected mainly in Scotland, in Scandinavia in cities like Oslo, Stockholm and in Estonia. It will be windy across the British Isles, the North Sea and Scandinavia with wind gusts reaching 110-120 km/h. Elsewhere, the high pressure system is still dominating, bringing mostly stable weather with sunny spells. Temperature drops in northern and central Europe, while stable or slightly raised in the south.
New Year’s Day:
Arctic air masses in northern Europe along with a low pressure system will bring unstable weather in northern and western Europe with rain, heavy showers, local thunderstorms specially across the British Isles, Scandinavia, the Low countries, France, Germany, Portugal and northern Spain. Wintry showers or snow is expected in Scandinavia and the British Isles. Elsewhere, mostly stable with cloud increasing and some rain in western Italy. Temperature drops from the north.
