If you’ve not booked a European football getaway for 2025, it’s not too late, you’ve still got plenty of time.

From cheap booze and crazy atmospheres to everything in between, there’s plenty of fun to be had watching football on the continent.

And the best bit about it is you can do it all on a budget.

So buckle up, because here are the top five European football getaways for you and your mates to do in 2025.

Milan, Italy

Keeping a straight bat for the first entry, it’s a trip to the north of Italy and the country’s calcio capital… Milan.

There’s no skirting around the edges with this one, as the main reason any football buff would and should visit Milan is the iconic San Siro.

Home to both AC and Inter Milan, tickets for matches at San Siro are often readily available because of the stadium’s whopping 75,000 capacity.

And when you’re not living it up at the Giuseppe Meazza, the stylish city of Milan has plenty of sights to see and Italian food to eat.

Budapest, Hungary

Most footy fans would be hard-pressed to name a football club in Budapest, with record champions Ferencvaros perhaps the most notable.

But what the Hungarian lacks in footballing prestige, it certainly makes up for elsewhere.

Alongside Ferencvaros, Budapest has plenty of places to catch a game, including Ujpest, Budapest Honved and MTK Budapest. If you’re lucky, you could even catch more than one game in a weekend visit.

Travelling with non-football lovers? Don’t fear, the stunning views stretching across the Danube or the thriving (and cost-effective) nightlife, mean there’s something for everyone in Budapest.

With pints as cheap as £1.50, what’s not to love?

Lisbon, Portugal

If you’re more into your football with food, Lisbon is the place for you.

Legendary chef Anthony Bourdain claimed a trip to Portugal sparked the ‘beginning’ of his love affair with food and there’s no place like Lisbon when it comes to dining.

Combine that with a visit to either Sporting CP or Benfica and you’re primed for an unbeatable European city break.

Lisbon can be a little heavier on the bank balance, so make sure to bring your pocket money.

As well as an umbrella. When it rains, it certainly pours in Portugal!

Berlin, Germany

One for the football hipsters now. Berlin isn’t exactly a football hotbed, with the German capital having never returned a Bundesliga champion.

But that doesn’t mean Berlin isn’t a fantastic place to watch the beautiful game.

The crown jewel in Berlin’s footballing crown is the breathtaking Olympiastadion – home of Hertha Berlin and the site of many historic sporting battles throughout the years.

On the opposite side of town, there are very few places like Union Berlin’s Stadion An der Alten Forsterei – three sides of which are all standing terraces. Be wary though, tickets can be hard to come by.

However, it’s the wealth of lower-league clubs scattered across the city that makes Berlin the perfect getaway.

Prague, Czechia

Another one of Europe’s beer and football-loving havens, Prague will leave you with plenty of thrills, while also being kind to the wallet.

The action is likely to be found at either one of the city’s ‘Big Two’… Sparta and Slavia Prague.

But don’t discount a visit to one of Prague’s lesser-known clubs, Bohemians or Dukla.

Both of these offer quirky footballing experiences and are readily accessible from the city centre.

If you do make the trip to the Czechia capital, make sure to squeeze in some traditional cuisine. Dumplings and sauerkraut, washed down with a pint of Pilsner Urquell never goes amiss.
