Bulgaria’s center-right party moved to break an impasse as it proposed a coalition government, offering the Balkan nation the chance at a functioning majority to tackle issues such as corruption and euro adoption.
Former Prime Minister Boyko Borissov’s Gerb party, which won a snap election in October — Bulgaria’s seventh since 2021 — proposed a former parliament speaker, Rosen Zhelyazkov, to lead a coalition government on Wednesday. Zhelyazkov’s cabinet lineup may be approved by parliament in Sofia as early as Thursday.
