If Belarus seeks to develop friendly relations, North Korea will not refuse to do so. This was stated by the sister of the leader of the DPRK, Kim Yo Jong.
“I know very well that the Belarusian side was strongly hoping for high-level contact with the DPRK no less than two years ago. As for the TASS report on the statement that we sent Minsk a proposal for a summit meeting to discuss cooperation issues, in my opinion, there was no such proposal,” Kim Yo Jong told the Korean Central Telegraph Agency.
According to her, she hopes for the development of cooperative relations with Belarus, but for this Minsk must “express its clear intention.”
“I think that such a fact and sincerity should be the starting point for bilateral relations between states. If the Belarusian side, proceeding from this position, seeks to develop friendly and cooperative relations with us, we will not refuse it, but welcome it with pleasure,” Kim Yo Jong stressed.
Recall that in July 2024, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus Maxim Ryzhenkov paid an official visit to the DPRK. Then the parties discussed many issues and agreed on specific measures to intensify contacts. On January 17, Alexander Lukashenko said that about five countries, including Pakistan, Indonesia and the DPRK, had sent Minsk their proposals on organizing high-level meetings to discuss cooperation issues.
