The concert will feature works with a strong Chinese New Year atmosphere, such as Spring Festival Overture, the first movement of the Spring Festival Suite by composer Li Huanzhi, Dance of Golden Snake arranged by Nie Er in 1934 and Dance of the Yao People by composers Liu Tieshan and Mao Yuan in the 1950s. The Yao ethnic group is known for its lively folk music and dance. These pieces will showcase the charm of Chinese music and convey the festive joy and harmony of Chinese New Year.
As a top school in China’s music education scene, the China Conservatory of Music, established in 1964, has also been committed to performing Chinese music. The year 2024 marks the 60th anniversary of the conservatory.
The upcoming trips are part of Wu Promotion’s tour series, The Grand Chinese New Year Concert, which, since its inception in 1998, has been held 24 times and has become an important brand for international cultural exchange. The concert tour has visited nearly 40 countries, attracting almost 2,000 Chinese musicians and bringing Chinese music to over 300,000 global audiences.
