(Business in Cameroon) – After four years of implementation, the project to promote research, innovation, and digital culture in Central Africa (Pricnac), funded with €4.8 million (over CFA3 billion) by the European Union, is now focusing on sharing the results of its 17 funded micro-projects. The projects, coordinated by the University Agency of Francophonie (AUF), have been selected in four key areas: improving access to digital culture, understanding and using emerging technologies, creating connections between research and innovation skills development and labor market needs, and promoting local knowledge.

This year, the 17 micro-projects selected from Central African countries will work on spreading their research findings. “The goal is to establish a platform for sharing all the innovations developed by these micro-projects and to present a networking plan, which is key to ensuring the sustainability of the project,” the AUF explained.

In Cameroon, several startups and public and private organizations have received funding ranging from CFA98 million to over CFA118 million. These include the Agricultural Research Institute for Development, which is working on the development of smart agricultural equipment, and Forests and Rural Development (Foder), which is promoting sustainable development innovations in rural areas. Other projects include the promotion of e-commerce for women entrepreneurs in Cameroon’s Sahel region, led by the National School of Polytechnic in Maroua, and a project focused on digital innovation in Central Africa, supervised by the National School of Agro-industrial Sciences in Ngaoundéré.

Additional projects include those focusing on economic resilience for women in low-carbon environments towards green growth, led by the Higher Teacher Training College in Yaoundé, and energy-saving and eco-friendly processes in infrastructure production, managed by the Mission for the Promotion of Local Materials. Startups such as the Cameroon Youth Tech Incubator also benefited from funding, with each project having a one-year deployment period.
