Belarus’ place is in Europe.

Belarus can become part of Europe after freeing itself from the influence of dictator Aliaksandr Lukashenka and Russia, Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kęstutis Budrys said at the Kosciuszko Forum in Gdansk, Poland, Delfi reports.

“Belarus’ place is in Europe, but in order to return to the European path, the country must free itself from both the embrace of dictator Lukashenka and Russian influence. We must help the democratic forces of Belarus on this path, because a democratic Belarus is important for the security of both Lithuania and the entire region,” Budrys said.

During the event, the Minister also noted that it is important to continue supporting the democratic forces of Belarus, promote the preservation of the Belarusian language and culture, increase pressure on the Lukashenka regime, and promote closer ties between democratic Belarus and Europe.
