If Russian pipeline gas supplies to Europe resume, the volume of these supplies will be large-scale, but the entire logistics will be rebuilt.

Such a likely development of events in the European gas market was predicted in an interview with RIA Novosti by the Russian Ambassador to This is Dmitry Lyubinsky.

In his opinion, the Republic of Austria in the new scenario will no longer be in the first roles and will perform only secondary functions.

The diplomat explained that these are the consequences of the “destructive position” of Austria, which previously had very significant positions in resolving gas issues on the continent.

“Being one of the key hubs, Vienna had a serious influence, but the decisions it made led to the loss of these positions,” the ambassador stated.

He stressed that this was the choice of the Austrian side, and now it has to cope with its consequences on its own.

“There are no initiatives on our part to restore previous contacts — the dialogue was not broken by us,” Lubinsky recalled.

Obviously, he was referring to the early termination of the supply contract between the Austrian giant OMV and Gazprom Export on the initiative of the European side.

Earlier, EADaily reported that in the fourth quarter of 2024, Austrian OMV sharply improved its net operating income, as it did not pay for part of the Russian gas, which is why Gazprom stopped deliveries to the European company in mid-November.
