Following the news that Spain is planning to introduce a tax of up to 100% on properties bought by non-EU residents, travel experts at Eurochange have shared their best places for Brits to move to.

Brits with a dream to buy property in Spain may have their plans shattered if a new law is introduced.

Spain announced plans to introduce a tax of up to 100% on properties bought by non-EU residents, including those in the UK.

There are currently over half a million Brits living in Spain, but those with plans to buy a Spanish property in future may need to re-consider.

According to Eurochange, Malta is one of the best destinations Brits can head to instead.

The country is home to beautiful beaches, an exciting atmosphere, and a laid back lifestyle.

One must-visit place is Valletta, the capital of Malta – the fortified city has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1980.

Another area you can spend time in is The Blue Lagoon of Comino, one of the most scenic and relaxing places to see in Malta.

According to Lonely Planet, Malta is the world’s tenth-smallest country.

Laura Evans-Fisk, head of digital and engagement at Eurochange said: “Malta is a fantastic destination for any Brits looking to relocate to a warmer climate.

“English is an official language in Malta, making the logistics of moving a whole lot easier. There are also favourable tax regimes for expats, and a well-established expat community – with 13,000 Brits currently living there.

“Malta’s relaxed, Mediterranean island lifestyle makes it a mean contender for those who love to visit Spain.”

If you’re looking to leave the UK and head abroad, Malta is a great place to consider settling down in.
