The Estonian Foreign Ministry called “outrageous and vile” incidents at the Tbilisi airport, when first opposition politician Giorgi Gakharia and then ex-President of Georgia Salome Zurabishvili were pelted with eggs.

“Estonia calls on the ruling party of Georgia to immediately stop these attacks and bring the perpetrators to justice,” the Estonian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on the social network X.

On February 18, Zurabishvili was pelted with eggs and insulted at Tbilisi International Airport. The day before, on February 17, a similar incident occurred with Georgy Gakharia. Both returned to Georgia from Germany after participating in Munich Security Conference.

Commenting on the incident with Gakharia, PosTV presenter Natia Beridze advised Zurabishvili to prepare.

“It’s your turn now, Sister. When you arrive, put on a raincoat, otherwise the smell of eggs will bother you for a long time,” Beridze wrote on the social network.

Representatives of the Georgian Dream condemned the violence, they laid the blame for what happened on the oppositionists themselves. By their actions, Gakharia and Zurabishvili have been encouraging violence for years, the ruling party stressed.
