‘The UK is currently experiencing temperatures much higher than average with the influence of tropical Atlantic air feeding in over coming days.
‘If a normally warm region, like Greece, is experiencing colder than average conditions then that can create temporary anomalous situations where one normally warmer region is cooler than other normally cooler regions.
‘This is what has happened between the UK and Greece over this week. However, this is a temporary situation, and in the longer-term the temperature differences will balance out once more.’
With the warmer weather today, also comes significant rain and wind for some, with the Met Office issuing yellow weather warnings for parts of Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland.

Although less severe, much of England will also experience wind and rain – the latter moving eastward throughout the day – as well as sunny spells.

The strongest winds are expected in the north east.
Forecasters predict a bright start for many tomorrow, with showers and strong winds expected later in the north and west.
It’s set to be cloudier in the southeast first thing with some potential rain, but clearing eastward.
Sunday will likely be wet and windy for many, with drier weather forecast for Monday and Tuesday, though some showers expected.
