Sources apparently say that Man City and Arsenal have also had scouts watching the teenager, who has started playing in the first team this season. At centre back, left back and central midfield, he’s picked up 7 appearances for Ajax this season (with an impressive 5 in the Europa League) and is a regular for their youth team Jong Ajax.

The Blues have signed up a couple of players from South America of that age, and then had to wait a couple of years to get them in the team. In the case of Mokio, the Blues would be able to bring him over right away – although given he’s picking up important minutes developing in the Eredivisie right now, it might make more sense to leave him at Ajax on loan for a year at least.

It looks like this summer could be a very interesting one for the youngster.
