AwaKhiwe set for debut performance in Estonian Tallin Music Week

ZIMBABWEAN rapper AwaKhiwe is set to perform at the Tallin Music week in Estonia, Europe, scheduled for April.

Speaking to NewsDay Weekender Life & Style, AwaKhiwe expressed excitement over the achievement, highlighting that it will be her first time performing there.

“I am so excited because I have never been to Estonia. I have always known about the country and the Tallinn Music Week and I have always wanted to perform there because it’s a very good platform to market your music,” she said.

“A lot of industry people attend and it is the biggest music festival in Estonia.

“It is also a very good platform to network with people who can help to take one’s career further.

“When I got the invitation I was like ‘Yeah I have been waiting for this to happen’.”

She said the opportunity means a lot to her as it portrays growth and it’s a sign that the world is much bigger.

“Sometimes we cry so much about things not happening locally and we end up forgetting that the world is much bigger than Zimbabwe.”

AwaKhiwe revealed that the invitation came at a perfect time because it was a reminder that she needs to shift her focus and focus on growth.

“It really came at a perfect time and I am so motivated. I will be performing on the Africa Now stage on April 5 and I can’t wait,” she said.

She said fans should expect high energy performances, adding that she will drop new music to see how Estonians vibe with Ndebele rap.

“I hope that they get to take a trip to Nkayi through the music, without actually going there,” AwaKhiwe said.

“I also hope they experience the culture through the music because I will be telling lots of stories.

“I also hope that my fellow Zimbabweans can see that nothing is impossible, lots of people can do bigger things.”

Tallinn Music Week is an international music showcase, city culture festival and networking event for music and creative industry professionals, held every spring in Tallinn, Estonia Europe, since 2009.
