Three Irish cities ranked in Europe’s coffee capitals

A new study reveals Ireland’s café culture is surprisingly strong as three Irish cities are named among the European cities with the most coffee shops per capita.

People drink billions of gallons of coffee every year, and visiting a coffee shop is an essential daily ritual for millions of people. Online casino Betway has now revealed which cities in Europe and around the world are the most awake based on the highest concentration of coffee shops compared to the population.

In Europe, Ireland dominated the top five list, with Galway, Cork and Dublin ranking alongside Athens and Manchester as the best destinations in Europe for coffee lovers.

Using TripAdvisor’s data, the number of cafes/coffee shops was sourced for each city. From there the number of cafes per capita was calculated to rank the cities from highest to lowest.

Athens earned the top spot on the list with over 600 cafes. Despite boasting the smallest population in the study, Galway placed second overall with more than 50 cafes.  Manchester and Cork ranked third and fourth, respectively. Completing the top five was Dublin, with just under 300 cafes in the heart of Ireland’s capital. 

Indeed, Dublin has emerged as one of the most popular cities for coffee enthusiasts. This bustling metropolis has undergone a remarkable coffee revolution, transforming itself into a vibrant hub for specialty coffee.
