Silicon Europe, the alliance of European semiconductor clusters, has appointed Frank Bösenberg as Chairman. Innovation and global competitiveness are to take centre stage.
Together with Erasmia Dupenloup, Ola Svedin (OpenTech, Sweden) and Robert Gfrerer (Silicon Alps, Austria) as co-chairs, he will lead the strategic direction of the organisation.
Key topics are the EU Chip Law and the European Union’s Digital Agenda, which aim to strengthen Europe’s competitiveness and technological sovereignty in the semiconductor sector. Silicon Europe’s strategic roadmap will be adapted to geopolitical changes and supply chain challenges to promote innovation and sustainability.
‘Clusters such as those organised in Silicon Europe are essential to strengthen Europe’s position as a global player,’ emphasised Frank Bösenberg. The aim is to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in particular and to intensify cooperation with institutions and new clusters.
By pooling regional expertise, the alliance plans to achieve the objectives of the EU Chip Act and at the same time contribute to the resilience of supply chains. Silicon Europe also wants to increasingly integrate new clusters in order to further expand the region’s technological innovation power.
