Switzerland has decided to allocate almost CHF 45 million (€48.3 million) to aid Ukraine during the winter period.

Source: a statement by the Swiss Federal Council, as reported by European Pravda

Details: The new aid package will be aimed at rebuilding Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, repairing damaged housing and meeting urgent humanitarian needs.

The statement said that Switzerland’s new winter package “builds on existing experience” in helping Ukraine.

Switzerland allocated CHF 84.5 million (approximately US$94 million) in support to Ukraine during the winters of 2022 and 2023. Additionally, the country provided over CHF 477 million (around US$530 million) in aid to those affected by the war in Ukraine and its neighbouring countries.

Background: Earlier, it was reported that Switzerland would allocate CHF 1.5 billion (approximately US$1.7 billion) over the next four years for Ukraine’s recovery projects, with plans to involve the private sector in these efforts.

In 2023, the Swiss government approved a four-year aid package totalling CHF 100 million (US$118 million) earmarked exclusively for humanitarian mine clearance in Ukraine.
