Lithuania expects Latvia and Estonia has a unified position on the use of anti-personnel mines. This statement was made by the head of the Lithuanian Ministry of Defense, Dovile Shakalene, Baltnews reports.
According to the agency, the Lithuanian Seimas intends to consider the country’s withdrawal from the Anti-personnel Mine Ban Convention. In this regard, the predecessor of Shakalene Laurinas Casciunas intends to collect signatures of residents of the country for lifting the ban on the use of such ammunition.
It is also reported that at the end of December, the Estonian parliament began discussing plans to withdraw from the international convention banning anti-personnel mines in order to mine the border with Russia. However, there is no solution yet.
