Taoiseach Micheál Martin is due to attend an online meeting with other European leaders to discuss the situation in Ukraine on Wednesday afternoon.
Mr Martin is to speak in favour of speeding up the process of Ukraine joining the European Union.
The meeting is being convened by French president Emmanuel Macron.
Speaking in advance of the meeting, Mr Martin said: “In our discussions, we will consider how best we can continue to support Ukraine and how we can ensure a just, sustainable, and durable peace, in keeping with the principles of the UN Charter.
“I will argue that an important way for the EU to help guarantee Ukraine’s future security is to accelerate the process of joining the EU.”
Mr Martin added: “Ukraine is part of the European family and has already undertaken many of the reforms necessary for membership in the most difficult of circumstances.
“As we approach the third anniversary of Russia’s illegal invasion, Ireland remains steadfast in our support for Ukraine and its people.”
On Tuesday night, US president Donald Trump dismissed Kyiv’s concerns about being left out of US-Russian talks on ending the war in Ukraine.
Speaking to reporters in Florida after a US delegation met Russian counterparts in Saudi Arabia, Mr Trump said Ukraine “should never have started” the war with its neighbour and could previously have made a deal to end it.
Earlier, following 4½ hours of talks in Riyadh, US secretary of state Marco Rubio announced a four-part agreement with Russia to guide the re-establishment of contacts severed after Moscow’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, which began Europe’s biggest war in 80 years.
