Norway is one of the most EV-friendly countries worldwide, so it is no surprise that Tesla’s electric cars have proven very popular among consumers. Norwegians were the first European customers to receive the Tesla Model S in 2013, and by April 2014, the vehicle broke the country’s record for most monthly sales of a single model, electric or otherwise.

Tesla’s mainstream models, the Model 3 sedan and Model Y crossover, also proved very successful in Norway. The Tesla Model Y became the country’s top-selling vehicle in 2023 with 23,088 units sold. The Norwegian Road Federation also noted that Tesla accounted for about 20% of all vehicles sold in Norway last year.

🎉 🎉 Congratulations Tesla 🎉 🎉

Despite the arrival of more rivals from new and legacy automakers, Tesla has maintained an iron grip in the Norwegian auto market. As per local sales data tracked by industry watchers at elbilstatistikk.no, Tesla has so far sold 61,540 Model Y and 45,612 Model 3 sedans in Norway as of writing. Overall, Tesla has reportedly sold 143,388 vehicles in Norway to date.
