The sturgeons were raised in a breeding centre located in the village of Born auf dem Darß, along Germany’s Baltic Sea coast, which was one of several German collaborators involved in the initiative. They were later released into the Göta River near Bohus Fortress, in the city of Kungälv, Sweden.
